Yes, 4/20 may have come and gone this year, but there’s still a way to celebrate your love for cannabis just two days later!
At the end of the day, cannabis relies heavily on the environment. It is a plant, after all! Here are a few ways it can help keep the Earth clean and healthy:
Going & Growing Outside
When you grow cannabis outdoors, it can play a role in reducing climate change. Through carbon sequestration, cannabis plants help capture harmful gases like carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Improvement in Soil
Cannabis plays a huge role in improving the health of soil. Hemp can replenish the nutrients in soil through a process called bioremediation which cleans up environmental pollutants and toxins.

*Fun fact: Weed Day (4/20) originated just a year after Earth Day. The first ever Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970 while 4/20 began in 1971! It's meant to be!

At Empire Smokes, we do our very best to practice Earth Day everyday. Being an online store requires a lot of maintenance and through it all, we do our part to work sustainably. What we like to keep in mind at Empire Smokes is consciousness, conservation, and community.
When working with materials such as plastic, cardboard, and of couse glass, we remain conscious of how they impact our environment. We do so by recycling and reusing any boxes, bags, or products.
When it comes to conservation, we are committed to reducing carbon footprint. At Empire Smokes, we use LED lights throughout our warehouse, unplugging any and all devices at the end of the night, and even carpooling to work together!
Finally, we are to community! At the end of the day, none of these practices would be possible without bringing everyone together. We practice community and culture by simply communicating. Whether that's to each other, our shoppers, or through our blogs! ;)
